CHARACTER
NAME: Savia Constantin

AGE: Early 30s.

Pre-ARR
Originally from Ilsabard, Savia's family were once a quiet family living in their seaside home. However that changed when the Garlemald Empire attacked. Her father, with his knack for machinery ended up putting his skills at the behest of the empire to save his skin. He discards any trace of his "savagery" and shows enough good work that he is afforded some privileges. He takes on the name Anselm cen Constare, discarding his Othardian name. He and his wife Sella have one child - who shows some peculiar abilities from a young age. Sella, a trained alchemist in her own right risks life and limb to escape to Eorzea before the Empire noticed her daughter's unusual abilities. She changes their last name to Constantin and they live a relatively peaceful life in Limsa Lominsa where nobody so much blinks at them as au ra with rather unusual names. She starts honing her skills as an engineer at first fiddling with random bits of machinery, eventually offering her services as an armourkeep to the Sanguine Sirens in exchange for Machinist training.

Savia complains of headaches, of seeing bright lights in the air and they turn to the Ironworks when no easy solution can be found. She goes to the Garlond Ironworks to help find a solution, who give her special aetherial blocking lenses which restores her normal sight. Hoping to repay the favour, she offers her skills to them and gets employed posthaste.

A Realm Reborn

After being scooped up by Garlond Ironworks, Savia is deployed to assist a man named Sivert Dragoteur in his fight against the encroaching Garlean invasion. In Jessie's words, she's a walking advertisement for their new Ironworks gear line. She accompanies him and the rest of their team of adventurers in storming Castrum Merdianium and the Praetorium. She forges a fast friendship with a ragtag group of adventurers. Savia is then involved with investigation into the Crystal Tower in Mor Dhona, before she receives her next assignment to follow Sivert Dragoteur to Ishgard after he is accused of murdering Nanamo Ul Namo.

Heavensward

As part of the initiative to further technological advancement in Ishgard, Savia gains entry to the closed city state and lends her talents to the Skysteel Manufactory. It is there that that she ends up under the auspices of House Beaufort. She drinks a mysterious bottle in House Beaufort and wakes up one day to find that instead of sporting black curved horns, she now has furry purple ears and is now a Viera. (The bottle was of the mystical "Fantasia", a permanent type of glamour that magically alters the race of the drinker.) In the wake of Francois Beaufort's messy divorce, Savia falls into the role as his mistress (much to his younger sister's distress). She learns the art of the Red Mage through said relationship after he remarks that if she was going to attempt to stab him with his own swords, she might as well do it with style. She brings her new skills to Sivert's aid, now known as the Warrior of Light, as she helps him explore herein treacherous locations such as The Dravanian Hinterlands and Azys Lla as part of his adventuring party.

Her life would be profoundly changed wherein during a respite in Idyllshire, the primal Alexander emerges in the Dravanian Hinterlands after answering the call of the goblins. At first she couldn't explain why she was drawn to the mysterious structure. She hears it calling to her, a voice which beckons her amidst the mysterious melody of steam and cogs that seemed to follow her. While the Echo normally affords her protection against primal influence, Alexander was able to exploit the fact that she was able to read the Enigma Codex to entice her to pilot it. While she accompanies the Warrior of Light along with Mide, Roundrox and the Ironworks in shutting down Alexander and stopping Quickthinx Allthoughts and the Illuminati - she feels wholly conflicted the entire time. The real impasse occurs when they enter the temporal distortion to shut down Alexander Prime and she is offered a choice - pilot Alexander to its calculated perfect world or stay with in this one with all its messiness and chaos. It's at this point Mide is able to call upon Dayan's soul to intervene before Alexander replaces his soul with Savia's. Her adoptive sister Sen Lin'ly slaps her and makes her deal the final blow to Alexander Prime. Mide and Dayan trap themselves in the core of Alexander to stop it, which allows their newly found friends to escape.

Stormblood
With Ishgard now part of the Eorzean Alliance and the threat of Nidhogg subdued, Sivert is called away to the liberation of Ala Mhigo and Doma. Savia's efforts are focused mostly in the hunt for Omega but occasionally gets called by Sivert to clean up some Garlean messes. She is based in Rhalgr's Reach, often running reconnaissance missions. It is at this time she learns the art of the Gunbreaker, turning her considerable mental fortitude into an ability to protect people after her encounter with Alexander profoundly leaving an impression on her.

Shadowbringers
Savia remains in the Source world and continues her work with Garlond Ironworks while Sivert is adventuring in The First. She knows of the First and Sivert's adventures secondhand, as Sivert is the only Scion able to travel between the First and the Source. Often times she is consulted for her knowledge, but she doesn't have any real urge to travel to the First. Notably she participates in the rebuilding of Ishgard's Firmament and the Bozjan Front war efforts due to having learned the art of the Gunbreaker from a Bozjan Hrothgar during her time in Rhalgr's Reach. It's at this time she gets married and has a child. She has no contact with the First except for two occasions. The first instance is when the Crystal Exarch summons champions to fight at Sivert's side against Hades - Savia's soul hears the call and responds accordingly, following the call to fight. The second instance is against Elidibus as the Warrior of Light, where Savia is summoned to repel the Ascian to restore balance to Norvrandt. She happily welcomes Sivert and the Scions back home to Eorzea, as well as G'raha Tia.

PERSONALITY:
Savia's personality falls largely in line with The Architect (INTJ - Introvert, iNtuitive, Thinking, Judging) Myers Briggs archetype. She enjoys theoretical and abstract concepts coupled with a very strong work ethic. Couple this with a couple of natural talents, Savia excels at everything to do with machinery - which makes her exceedingly good at her job as an Inventor at Garlond Ironworks. She is proud of her ability to make things, unashamed about her talents but what she believes is her best trait is her inscrutability. Even under duress, she's still smiling. As to what that smile holds, only she knows and she's not telling. She carries herself with a certain dignity and pride as a result.

As a person, she's very principled. While she does not follow a strict moral code, she believes in the power of technology to save Eorzea. Savia is profoundly non spiritual, not having much respect for the Twelve and Doman Kami beyond them being convenient fairy tales to accompany aetherial phenomenon. But she is tactful enough not to say that to most people. It's for this reason she is profoundly uncomfortable in Ishgard, first by the violent racism she encounters, second by the bullheadedness of the church and third by the passivity of the populace. But despite this, she lends her talents to House Haillenarte and the Skysteel Manufactory, showing them what a real Lominsan Machinist looks like (sorry Rostnsthal). Not for any personal gain, but rather it is the right thing for her to do. She cares not for money, for fame or for power - only the pursuit of knowledge. In another life, she probably would have been an excellent Sharlayan.

Savia's grasp on her sanity is questionable at best as it's the only way that she's been able to cope with a lot of the trauma and upheaval she experienced in her life. This comes at the downside of having some "interesting" personality quirks, to put it lightly. It's very difficult for her to take a lot of things seriously, as she takes something big like getting married with the same gravity as what to have for dinner. Her absorption in her thoughts makes her scatterbrained, which more often than not leads her to risky situations. Her propensity for risktaking means that she's the first in during a lot of situations, which makes her an excellent Gunbreaker but also means she has no qualms putting things in her mouth for the heck of it. She enjoys risk a great deal, as it excites her on a profound level.

Savia is fairly nonjudgemental towards most people and things - able to assess them with a level head no matter what the situation. Her natural inquisitive nature and curiosity makes her a natural problem solver, able to create solutions for problems in an unexpected manner. It gives her a sound mind for tactics and strategy, even if her personal execution of them may be a little wonky. Her precision makes her cold in certain respects, often thinking about things on a rational level than an emotional one.

Her ability to take things in abstraction means that she finds it difficult to forge meaningful relationships with others and often expresses surprise when people consider her a friend, ally or lover. But when she finds that these people are genuine, they have her as an ally forever. Savia's a person who doesn't swear loyalty to a lot of things. But if she swears loyalty then you have it, forever. Even if something catastrophic happens. She has no loyalty to Othard, Garlemald, even her original race as an au ra - but she has a deep loyalty to the Ironworks, her friends, her husband and her ability to make things. If her adoptive sister Sen asked her to help kill a man, she'd ask if she'd want to do it quietly or loudly.

The flipside of it can be seen during her jaunt with Alexander that it could easily be misplaced loyalty - fervor and enthusiasm turned to obsession. She would pilot it until her soul stopped existing. If it weren't for her friends, she would have gone down this path. But the real turning point for Savia was when she gets married and suddenly things from go from abstract to very real. Having never had a true family life before, the opportunity of having one grounds her fully in Eorzea. No longer able to stake her body and soul in the same way, Savia finally learns some sense of self preservation.

POWERS/ABILITIES:

The Echo: While not a Warrior of Light, Savia is possessed with The Echo which allows her to view the memories of other people (which will only be done with player permission) and affords her mental protection against various corrupting influences. Additionally, it manifests individually in Savia as her being able to see the aether of her surroundings without the need of any additional tools as a kind of minor form of precognition/second sight.

Gunbreaker (GNB): To protect what one carries in their heart, with loyalty and determination. Utilizing a gunblade and aetherial cartridges, Savia is able to weather any onslaught. She is able to employ the user of shields and other protective effects, including staking all her aether into one moment of sheer determination to endure any lethal blows.

Red Mage (RDM) Keenly aware of the balance of black and white. Through the use of a rapier, Savia is able to employ Red Magic which comes from the manipulation of black and white aether and it is through this change in the balance of aether that she is able to fire spells in rapid succession. She also has access to some restorative magic. Unlike other red mages, she does not require a focus.

Machinist (MCH) Man and machine made working in tandem. In the name of Garlond Ironworks, Savia throws everything but the kitchen sink. Guns, drills, drones and automatons - as long as it can be fired from a gun, Savia can chuck it at an enemy. Her favourite thing to do is flamethrower her enemies.

Engineering Prowess As an inventor/engineer employed in Garlond Ironworks, Savia is able to make most things and create most things. Except cook. She can't cook particularly well. Her specialties involve anything working with metals and aetherical conductivity.

Pilot Skill She is able to pilot almost anything, whether this is due to the Echo or her own skills is up for debate.
